Camper's survival guide: what to pack in your suitcase for the Tarn Gorges?
Ah, holidays in Lozère! The sound of the water, the majestic cliffs, and evenings under the stars… But, before your stay in Camping « Le Site de Castelbouc », there is a crucial step: the suitcase.
Because the Gorges du Tarn are not a destination like any other, here is our "Survival Checklist" so you don't forget anything and can enjoy your stay in our region to the fullest.
1. For freshwater explorers (The Tarn River is calling you!):
Here, life revolves around the river. For our canoeing activities https://www.locanoe-gorgesdutarn.fr/reserver/ or simply for swimming on our private beach:
- Water shoes: Essential! The Tarn riverbed is made of pebbles. To walk comfortably and avoid slipping when getting into your canoe, this is the number 1 accessory;
-
A waterproof pouch: to keep your phone dry while you're capturing the cliffs (or to keep your car keys safe);
-
Eco-friendly sun protection: The sun beats down fiercely in the Gorges, but we are committed to the purity of our water. Choose environmentally friendly sunscreens!
-
A windbreaker and a change of clothes.
2. For starry nights (The freshness of Lozère):
This is the specific characteristic of our region: even if the days are hot, the nights remain cool thanks to the proximity of the river and the altitude (approximately 480 meters).
-
A light safety sweater and a mid-season jacket: Don't be fooled by the afternoon weather. For your group barbecues or game nights, a jacket or a light sweater will be essential;
-
Bed linen: A quick but important reminder! In our mobile homes, Bed linen is not provided. Remember to put your sheets and pillowcases in the trunk. (Don't worry, the blankets and pillows are already there!).
3. For trail adventurers:
The terrain around Castelbouc is magnificent but steep.
-
Good walking shoes: To climb up and admire the castle ruins or explore the trails of the Causse, forget the flip-flops!
-
A reusable water bottle: Fill your water bottle before you leave to avoid disposable plastic bottles.
4. The camper's "Serenity" kit:
-
A flashlight or headlamp: convenient for reaching your pitch or the sanitary block after nightfall;
-
An electrical adapter (if you are in a designated area) and an extension cord: We use European charging stations (blue P17). If you forget yours, we lend them out at reception for a €20 deposit, but having one in your bag is even better!
5. And above all… don’t forget your curiosity!
Lozère is a land of discovery. Leave some room in your suitcase to bring back some local products: honey, sheep's cheese or crafts from Sainte-Enimie.
A short message from the team at the "Le Site de Castelbouc" campsite:
